A noted Italian composer and cellist, Salvatore Lanzetti studied in Naples. Lanzetti was later working in Lucca where he had a close collaboration with Veracini, and then at the court in Turin. Lanzetti performed throughout Europe and for many years lived in London where he was regarded as the best virtuoso cellist. Lanzetticomposed a great number of sonatas for cello and basso continuo. Lanzetti was the first cello performer at the Concerts Spirituels in Paris.
