One the most outstanding German musicians, Dietrich Buxtehude has been considered a link between Heinrich Schütz, the ‘father’ of Protestant Baroque music and J. S. Bach, Baroque’s greatest master. Buxtehude was the most famous organist in Germany before Bach. Buxtehude’s music was almost forgotten after composer’s death. The revival of Buxtehude as an outstanding composer of sacred music, has only been made during the recent few decades.
