A student of the famous clarinet teacher Chrysogone Cyrille Rose, Paul Jeanjean is distinguished as an important French clarinetist and composer. Paul Jeanjean is mainly recognized for his clarinet compositions, but he also composed for other instruments including bassoon and cornet. Paul Jeanjean’s compositions for the clarinet are primarily studies for the practice of technical elements. Inspired by Paul Jeanjean, every year, the Paris Conservatoire hosts an event dedicated to clarinet, and invites the clarinet teachers from all over the world to compose music for the instrument.
