Leopold Mozart short biography
The father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johann Georg Leopold Mozart was a distinguished violinist, conductor, composer and teacher. A man of extremely wide interests and talent, Leopold Mozart joined the musical establishment of the Archbishop of Salzburg. Leopold Mozart was appointed court composer and deputy Kapellmeister, a position he held until his death. Leopold Mozart is best known as the father and teacher of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and the author of the early violin textbook Versuch einer gründlichen Violinschule.
