An important German early Baroque composer and organist, Johann Christoph Graupner studied with Mylius and Küster. Graupner’s further studied took him to the Leipzig Thomasschule. During his 9 years in Leipzig Graupner and Telemann became close friends. In 1722 Graupner was appointed Thomaskantor after Kuhnau retired. Graupner was one of the most outstanding Protestant masters. J.S. Bach is known to admire and study Graupner.
