Andre Campra was a leading composer in France in the beginning of the 18th Century. Campra started his brilliant career in Toulouse, and then settled in Paris accepting a prestigious position as Maître de musique of Notre Dame. Campra staged his operas to a great success at the Opera-House, sponsored by the Académie Royale de Musique. Another important Caldara’s post was the official composer of the Chapelle Royale.
