Donizetti’s first significant success came with Zoraida di Granata. Donizetti, an incredibly productive composer, wrote 60 operas. In 1830, Donizetti's opera Anna Bolena made its composer famous all over Europe and created Donizetti's phenomenal international reputation lasting a lifetime. L’Elisir d’Amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Pasquale have become the standard repertoire of the best opera houses around the globe. Donizetti’s works also include a great number of songs, chamber and piano music and numerous compositions for the church.
