Franz Lehar short biography
One of the most popular composers of operetta, Franz Lehar had an early recognition in 1902 in Vienna where Lehar composed most of his works. Lehar is credited in reviving the operetta genre. Lehar wrote forty operettas. His best and most popular creation is Die lustige Witwe (The Merry Widow), first staged in Vienna in 1905 and widely performed ever since.
