Robert Schumann
(1810 - 1856)
Robert Schumann short biography
One of the greatest musicians of all time, Robert Schumann, as a child, displayed enormous talents in music and literature. Schuman's promising career as a piano virtuoso was aborted due to a professional illness in one hand. In 1850, Schumann and his family moved to Düsseldorf, where Robert Schumann assumed an official position as municipal director of music. In 1854, Schumann suffered a mental collapse and spent the rest of his life in a mental clinic. An enormously prolific composer, Schumann wrote in virtually all music genres. Today, Robert Schumann has become one of the most popular composers ever.
