Max Bruch is mostly knownas the violin composer. Bruch's Violin Concerto in G minor, one of the most popular composition in the violin repertoire, may have overshadowed much of his other important works, like his Scottish Fantasia and the Second Violin Concerto. During his outstanding career, Bruch was actually famous for his large-scale choral works, many of them now forgotten. Between 1870 and 1900 Bruch's popularity was generally considered greater than that of Brahms.
