Ferruccio Busoni short biography
One of greatest pianists of all time, Ferruccio Busoni was also a remarkable composer. Busoni’s father was an Italian musician and mother was a noted German pianist. A prolific composer, Busoni wrote operas, including Turandot and recently revived Doktor Faust, a number of orchestral works, a piano concerto with a male chorus in the finale, and various pieces for piano solo and chamber music. One of the most famous is Busoni's arrangement of Bach's Chaconne. Busoni's Fantasia after Bach and Fantasia Contrappuntistica clearly display Busoni’s musical genius.
