A noted French pianist and teacher, Isidor Philipp was a student of the Paris Conservatoire. Philipp won the Grand Prix in Pianoforte in 1883. Philipp enjoyed a brilliant career and performed all over Europe. In 1893 Philipp was appointed professor of the Paris Conservatoire. In 1941 Philipp settled in North America and was a professor in New York and in Montreal. Philipp continued to perform and played his last recital in Paris at the age of 92.
