An important American pianist and composer, Ethelbert Woodbridge Nevin wrote his first compositions at the age of 12. Nevin was a piano student of B.J. Lang and studied composition with Stephen A. Emery in Boston. Nevin continued his musical studies in Berlin with Karl Klindworth and Otto Tiersch. Nevin’s debut piano recital in Pittsburgh was warmly received. Nevin was regarded as one of the leading American composers.
