Daniel G. Mason short biography
An important American composer and teacher, Daniel G. Mason was the son of Henry Mason, the owner of the Mason & Hamlin Co. Daniel Mason was a student at Harvard and later studied with Vincent d'Indy in Paris. In 1910, Mason was appointed professor at Columbia University. Mason’s compositions, conservative in form, include symphonies, chamber works, and the popular overture Chanticleer. Mason published several books and teaching methods.
