Even though, the French composer Henri Duparc wrote only thirteen songs, those compositions have considerable importance in French vocal repertoire. Having never completed his professional music education, Duparc took some private lessons from Cesar Franck. The Duparc’s songs were received with high acclaim and his major composition career seemed to be secured, but Dupark soon stopped composing because of a severe nervous breakdown. Richard Wagner was a significant influence on the Dupark’s compositions.
