An important Italian composer, singer, teacher, instrumentalist and literary writer, Giulio Caccini represents late Renaissance and early Baroque periods. Caccini is regarded as a founder of the opera genre. Caccini made an enormous contribution towards creation of the new Baroque style. Caccini developed the monody—solo vocal line, accompanied by one or 2 instruments. Caccini's Le nuove musiche was a very important collection of madrigals and songs for solo voice with the accompaniment of basso continuo. This work also praises the new style invented by Caccini and rejects the works of many conservative composers of this period.
