An important Italian composer, Domenico Natale Sarri studied at the Neapolitan conservatory of S. Onofrio. Sarri was one of the most prolific composers in the early 18th century. Sarri’s opera Didone abbandonata, was the first setting of a libretto by Pietro Metastasio. Sarri’s opera Achille in Sciro was selected to open Teatro di San Carlo in 1737.
