A recipient of the Czech State Award, August Stradal was a student of the Vienna Conservatory. His teachers were Anton Door, Theodor Lescheticky and Anton Bruckner. In 1884, Sradal went to Weimar to study with Franz Liszt. Stradal was considered a great interpreter of Liszt's music. Stradal edited many of Anton Bruckner’s compositions. As a writer, Stradal created Memoirs of Franz Liszt and Small Union among other books.
