An important French violinist, composer and teacher, Jacques Féréol Mazos studied with Pierre Baillot at the Paris Conservatoire. In 1808, Mazos performed Auberís violin concerto dedicated to him by the composer. As a performer, Mazos earned an international reputation and concertized all over Europe. In 1831, Mazos was appointed first violinist at the Palais Royal. Later, Mazos assumed the position of directeur des concerts in Orléans, where he staged and directed the Opera Comique. Mazasís violin and viola methods were considered the most important educational materials of the period.
