A great Belgian violinist and composer, Eugene-Auguste Ysaye had an enormous worldwide recognition as a violin virtuoso performing with the major orchestras and in recital in all the world’s concert halls. Ysaye studied with Wienawski in Brussels and with Vieuxtemps in Paris. In 1898, Ysaÿe was offered the position of music director of the New York Philharmonic, but declined it. As a professor of the Brussels Conservatoire,Ysaye taught many outstanding violinists including Josef Gingold, William Primrose, Nathan Milstein, Louis Persinger, Alberto Bachmann, Mathieu Crickboom, Jascha Brodsky and Aldo Ferarasi.
