Ralph Vaughan Williams short biography
A distinguished composer, Vaughan Williams was a student of Hubert Parry and Charles Villiers Stanford. Early Vaughan Williams’s compositions show influence of Brahms and Wagner. A leading collector of the English folk tunes, Williams largely used them in his works. Vaughan Williams is one of the great composers of songs based on English poetry. Williams’s works including his songs, choral compositions and symphonies are an important part in the programming of concert seasons worldwide.
